Re Dave Welch: part of me feels sorry for the guy as it is unclear to me whether or not he was just left carrying the can, rather than actively seeking to deceive the investors.
And as for those who did their dough, it seems like greed and sense rather got the better of them. I suppose, though, we could all stomach doing our money on a horse as long as it gets out of the stalls.

dave welch is a top bloke, he had the best intentions at heart when starting aces poker. like to see him bounce back soon
Like all good con artists, Mr Welch is always very likeable and sounds very reasonable. He has managed to decieve nearly all of the people nearly all of the time, but not quite all. There is a certain European gentleman who is most interested in getting in touch with him - I doubt very much that he will enjoy that meeting when it happens...
Dave Welch used to be pretty straight up I always thought, but nearly everyone has a story now of how much he owes them. Some people are too embarrased to even tell you their story. Nice bloke? Maybe, but maybe not so nice. Just don't get involved with money.

since these posts are anonymous who are the serial nippers on the uk poker circuit, ive heard mallu can be a bit of one if he's done his bollox on blackjack
Could someone give me thw lowdown on this Pokerace 'scam', haven't heard about it before.
