Fahreinheit 9/11

Just back from the cinema where I watched awestruck the Michael Moore masterpiece.

It was the first time in my life I was present when a cinema audience applauded at the conclusion.

The George Orwell quote he uses to end the movie puts it all into perspective:   "..it does not matterif the war is not real.  For when it is, victory is not possible.  The war is not meant to be won, but it is meant to be continuous.

"A hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance, this new version is the past and no different past can everhave existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. the war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory overeither Eurasia or Eastasia but to keep the very structure of society in tact".

The movie is an amazing achievement.

Go see it.

Enjoy your blog but have to disagree with your Michael Moore post. He chose targets as wide as a barn door and managed to miss. I found the film dishonest, manipulative, incoherent, self-glorifying, extremely patronising, long-winded and dull. Apart from the few early minutes about the election (which were much better dealt with in "Stupid White Men") the film landed no shots apart from cheap and stupid ones.

A book has just come out entitled "Michael Moore is a big fat stupid white man." I'm delighted.
