Meanwhile over at ukpoker.com....

...the tumbleweeds are still rolling through the site. So far there have been a grand total of eight posts during the month of November in the forum which was bought back by "popular demand".

But, amazingly, one of these eight posts manged to raise a hearty chuckle.

I repost it in full, because my words could just not do it justice:

Subject: Newbie players wanted for 1 to 1 tuition via the WWW

Name: Mark S.

Hi,

My name is Mark Strahan and I'm a teacher of poker at the Fitzwilliam Card Club in Dublin, Ireland.

I've run courses there for the past 18 months and you can read up on these courses, and their content, on WWW.UKPOKER.COM, my website, by a link off the front page.

I'm now looking to take the tutoring onto the WWW and am looking for students who might like to be taught, 1 on 1, the finer points of the game.

Course fees will be based on you winnings throughout the course and there'll be lots of practical exercises with 'live' tuition as you play in various tournaments on various Internet card rooms at various times. (Tuition will be via SKYPE or MSN messenger)

If you're interested then drop me a note and we'll go from there.

All students will receive a FREE copy of my new book - 'How To Win At Texas Hold'Em' on signing up.

********************************************************

Honestly you just couldn't make this stuff up.

Other ways of wasting a few quid:

Using £10 notes as fire starters.
Buying a small share in Aces Poker.
Backing The Camel in a major poker tournament.
Lending the Ambassador a hundred pounds "until next week"..

Surely you should be encouraging the tution, i for one would camp outside the nearest cardroom his graduates would be playing at. Would be nearly as profitable as the first time Miros was spotted in the dungeon, BB and i recieved 20 odd frantic calls, HE'S IN HE'S IN...ahh salad days.

Did he keep on up with that amusing online winnings diary? At first it was supposed to be purely online, but the figures became embarrassing so he started throwing in the B&M figures too, I think it got to breakeven but I'm not sure where it went from there...did it survive PPV?

I honestly don't know if the diary survived.

I certainly wasn't going to pay 25p per day to follow it, even if it provided giggles aplenty...

Why does everyone dislike Strahan so much?

Titmus here,

Everyone takes an instant dislike to Strahan because it saves time.

The tourny diary died a death after he played a lot of PokerStars events and never included them in his records and was confronted about it. Obviously an ego-massage which went t*ts up.

Talking of diary's. I saw he was plugging his 2005 one. Got a free copy off Ladbrokes. It's o.k (i.e. worth what it cost, nothing), but I had to chuckle at his "How I did at the WSOP" entry. Hope he teaches his students better play.

How can you even begin to compare backing the Camel in a tournament with lending the Ambassador £100 "for a week"? At least you have a ray of hope in getting something back from the Camel...

When I get home from sunny Walsall I will try to write a post about the whole sorry Mark Strahan saga.

It's a long story, but probably worth telling...

I have heard, on good authority, that The Ambassador now accepts credit card payments as an alternative to cash. If you use your Egg card, or maybe even a Morgan Stanley card, potential nippees (is that a word)are at least guaranteed 1.5% cash-back from the card providers. Send those numbers now, you know it makes sense.
